Safe & Sound

Finally here! We're now seated comfortably in Allison & Daniel's living room after a lot of things going wrong! Our flight out of Louisville Saturday morning was severely delayed due to maintenance problems which made us miss our flight out of Chicago to London. That was the only same day flight! American Airlines rebooked us with British Airways for late in the afternoon Saturday which meant we didn't arrive in London until early this morning.

Now if only our bags had arrived with us. American Airlines rerouted us but not our baggage. They kept our baggage & supposedly put it on one of their later flights. But when we arrived at Heathrow our bags were no where to be found. We're still waiting on them. All the changes severely frustrated the cab company Jennifer had booked to pick us up from the airport.

Then when we finally made it to Jen's house we couldn't figure out how to open the front door! We had to use a neighbor's phone to call Jon's brother to help us (Jon & Jennifer are coming back from Cyprus today, so they had left us a key). When help arrived, of course, the problem was something simple. We were finally able to get some rest at Jennifer's before we had to leave for Nottingham (where Allison & Daniel live).

We didn't buy an international chip for our cell phones, so they're worthless here. I thought it would be a little liberating to be without it on vacation, but oh how we've needed it today!

Now we've called the airline & given them Allison & Daniel's address, so hopefully we'll get our bags tomorrow. Needless to say, we haven't done anything we planned to do today, but I'm loving the time with my hubby & we're figuring out how to problem solve together in new situations.
