Sedona

I've been finding more interesting things to do on the Internet lately than blog. Sorry. Here are some pictures from our trip to Sedona, AZ Dec 16-19. We flew into Phoenix and went to evening worship service at Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church, then drove the rest of the way north to Sedona. While Phoenix was very flat and covered with palm trees, Sedona is extremely mountainous. I had assumed December was a poor time to visit Arizona, but it had snowed earlier that week and the mountaintops were still white. It was so beautiful! It became obvious very quickly why my Dad loved this city so much.

We sat through a 90 minute timeshare presentation to get this helicopter ride for free. So worth it!

Sedona's private airport is on top of a mountain and we had heard how great the views are at sunset, so after our helicopter ride we drove around to find some viewing spots and came upon this beside a masonic temple...

and decided this was the place to leave my dad's remains.

The next day we drove about 2 hours to see the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. It was so insanely windy!

We had to drive through Flagstaff to get back to Sedona and it started snowing! Quite nerve-racking to drive about 20 miles down the mountain canyon in falling snow!

We also ate some great food at The Oak Creek Brewery and Grill, Elote Cafe, and had some Arizona barbeque (very spicy). 

I want to include some pictures my dad took on his last trip to AZ in 2006. The first 3 are from Sedona and the last is from the Painted Desert. 

And what's a blog post without a video of my kids, even though it's a Christmas song!
