I had a doctor's visit today at 11:10. I saw my midwife, Jessie, who started our visit by giving me a hug & reassuring me that all babies come out. Everything sounds great with Christian. She said his heart rate has picked up slightly because he's getting ready to make his move. My belly is as big as it ought to be & my blood pressure is fine. I'm still not swelling & my weight is fine. He doesn't feel like a big baby, maybe in the 7 lb range, according to Jessie feeling my tummy. I shared with her how I have contractions & tightness when I'm up & active, but they go away when I sit down & rest. She said that's my body getting ready & one day they won't go away when I sit down. Any day would be good. I opted not to be checked for dilation today. I was checked Thursday & wasn't dilated at all. If I'm still not today, I'd just rather not know. However...
I have another doctor's appointment on Monday with my doc, Dr. Cohen, at which time she will do a thorough check to make sure everything is still going well with Christian. I'll wear a fetal heart monitor for a short time during the visit, my dilation & fluid levels will be checked. If everything appears normal she will schedule an induction time for the following week, the week of Sept 30th. Jessie talked with me thoroughly about this today, but with the reassurance that a spontaneous labor could start at any time. I must admit, I was discouraged to be discussing this. I really don't want to be induced, but I understand that there are increased medical risks to the baby when pregnancy is allowed to go longer than 42 weeks. I've already heard horror stories about this. Actually, everyone seems to have a horror story to share with me, but that's another issue altogether.
At any rate, I'm very uncomfortable but doing well. Loving waking up every day & being able to stay home. Andrew is enjoying having a housewife even though he's studying like crazy. Here's my attempt at some pictures with the auto function since Andrew has already left for work but mostly of Christian's room:

Yay! Can't wait to see him! Your nursery is so cute :) ~Corin~
Ya know, the Lord has a specific birthday just for Christian...so don't worry! All babies come out... Otherwise you would be the first lady EVER to be pregnant forever! :)
The average, healthy, first time mom is 10-11 days late...so it sounds like you are a healthy and normal mom!!!
You look fantastic, by the way :) I just refuse to have my picture taken anytime in that last month.........scary.
One more thing.......
I hear you about everyone having ahorror story. Yikes! Not what you need to hear right now!!!
So just to offset.......my first was 11 days late and then was born (no induction) on his own and it was the BEST birth ever!!!!!!!!!! So look forward to kissing those chunky cheeks...smelling the top of their head (oh, it smells SO SO SO good!) and counting fingers and toes......cause it won't be long :)
Thanks for all the encouragement, Tiffany!
Hey Abby,
Glad to see this blog is up. I'm looking forward to pictures. Also, I chuckled when you said your "fluid levels will be checked." I thought it was funny. Enjoy the down time.
